Public BBQ

A small Ashfield block completely redeveloped and reopened at the end of 2023, and unlike any conventional playground: instead of one climbing structure it spreads a wide variety of surfaces, equipment and features across the whole lot, which gives small children far more to explore than usual. There are plenty of seats and barbecues, enough for several groups at once. The gaps are real, though. There are no toilets at all despite the barbecues, with what looks like an unbuilt space set aside at the back. The water play area runs out of water almost immediately, the pump emptying before it reaches much of the creek bed. Shade is thin, and the two games tables sit uncovered with board surfaces that glare in full sun. Ambitious, and at this stage rather less than the sum of its parts.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Inner West council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

We do also list wood fired BBQs on this site, so check the above descriptions and photos to be prepared.

If you are convinced that the BBQ has issues, then contact Inner West council and let them know it's faulty.

You should first check with Inner West council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
